On Nov 14 Singing legend K.J. Yesudas will celebrate his golden jubilee as a singer as it was on this day half-a-century ago that he recorded his first song which marked his arrival in the film industry. In 50 years, he has sung over 35,000 songs in 14 languages. The 71-year-old veteran was born in Fort Kochi to Augustine Joseph and Alicekutty. His father, who was a well-known Malayalam classical musician and stage actor, was his first guru.Over the years he has been conferred the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan besides winning seven national and 17 state film awards in singing. Yesudas has three sons and his second son Vijay Yesudas too won the state film award for singing in 2007. Even though settled in Chennai, Yesudas comes to the state often and also owns a home in Florida.

Yesterdays super star Shanker is comeback to Malayalam cinema after the super hit movie ‘Ividam Swargamanu (2009) He is part of Rosshan Andrrews upcoming Mohanlal starrer Casanovva, a romantic action thriller releasing this December. This film has Shankar playing Ajoy, a close friend of Mohanlal. I play the CEO of a television channel in Casanovva. It has been great teaming up with Lal and Rosshan Andrrews again after Ividam Swargamanu, Shankar said. Besides, he also signed Kalavoor Ravikumars Fathers Day and Salt N Pepper fame Ashiq Abus next Idukki Gold. The shooting of Idukki Gold is scheduled to start in January 2012. The film is about the ganja business that is doing the rounds in Idukki, the actor said.
